A new part number can be created on the IPL either by clicking in the part number column in an empty row and entering the new part number or by right clicking on an existing part, selecting Replace Part Locally or Replace Part Globally and entering the new part number.
Using Replace Part Locally, the part number will be replaced with the part number you supply. If the IPL is shared with other models, the replacement will be seen there as well. Where the part is used on other IPLs, it will not be replaced, it will only be replaced on the IPL where the replacement was made and all the models that share the IPL.
Using Replace Part Globally, the part number will be replaced on all IPLs where it is shown. The part will not be deleted from the system.

When a new part number has been entered and another cell is selected, the cell containing the part number will be highlighted and a message will be displayed above the parts list indicating that a new part is about to be added to the global parts list. Saving the change to the IPL will add the new part(s) to the global parts list.
